The Navagraha Temples are a group of sacred shrines dedicated to the nine planetary deities (Navagrahas) that play a vital role in Hindu astrology. Found mainly in Tamil Nadu, especially around Kumbakonam in the Cauvery Delta region, these temples are believed to help devotees overcome planetary doshas and karmic challenges. Each temple is dedicated to one planet Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Angaraka (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu, and Ketu.
Visiting these temples and performing pujas is said to bring peace, prosperity, good health, and protection from astrological afflictions. Many devotees take up the sacred journey of visiting all nine temples, called the Navagraha Yatra, which is considered spiritually rewarding. Beyond astrology, these temples also showcase the grandeur of Dravidian architecture and stand as timeless symbols of faith and tradition.
