Yantras indeed are more potent than anything resembling mere pictures of gods and goddesses, and they are also used to charge these images. In an Indian temple, for instance, the yantra of a deity is placed beneath the base of a deity's statue in that deity's inner sanctum, where initiation and energization and sanctification of the space take place.
Yantras as Energised Tools
The geometric forms of a Yantra activate the right hemisphere of the Karmic energy, which is visual and nonverbal. Such diagrams can be persons-symbolic or cosmic forces as inflow for our being through sound vibrations. Yantras could be drawn as mandalas or carved into stone, for copper's most effective medium for carrying Yantra, which is a known superconductor for electricity and cosmic energy.
Focusing on a yantra generates positive kinetic energy, just as the planets and deities have their electromagnetic fields affecting the emotions and karma of all beings. So, it is a very powerful tool for visual meditation, with either one or the other option of centring his mind or imitating energy patterns of a deity. The yantras then, when put to use for worship and once the energy is invoked, become symbolic representative of the deity itself or maybe the deity as you go beyond analytical thought and align with.
